You Don’t Have To Do This Thing Called “Life” Alone

You Don't Have To Do This Thing Called "Life" Alone

One of the most important and dizzying things that we learn about life fairly early, is that it is tough. Starting out in school and trying to find a place to put ourselves is hard. Getting to college takes grit and guts, and once you’re through the years of sleepless nights and study, you then have a career to begin.

There is rarely a moment to pause, and yet pause you must if you want to know where you stand in life. Taking a minute just to stop, take a breath and assess the world around you may sound like an unnecessary idea, but it’s one that will help your mental health exponentially.

You have been so focused on your studies, your job, your family, your friends – what about you? Have you thought about what you would like from your life, or are you busy looking at what other people are doing? You are not alone. There are so many out there who put themselves in the position that they have to be everything to everyone, that they’re the ones who end up needing the most help. It’s not weak to realize that you have been doing too much for everyone. It’s also not a bad thing to say no to people who are asking too much of your energy.

There still seems to be a stigma on people who need help with their mental health. When life is as complex and as busy as it is, leaning on others and relying on therapies like Dialectical Behavior Therapy Program to get through can be a huge help. Your mental health worries can be managed with regular self-care, conversation with those who can help you to unweave a web of thoughts, and simply relying on others to help you. You don’t have to do life alone; there are people there for you to talk to should life feel a little too much.

There is a lot of pressure on us today to “do it all”. We are pushed to our limits and this constant pressure can take a toll. Knowing that there are services and people there to listen to us when we are struggling? That’s one of life’s biggest comforts. Even if you don’t have a big family or a huge friendship group, you don’t need one. All you need is people by your side who can talk you through the hardest times in your life. Your time is coming to be excellent, and you can do it with a clearer head and the right support.

Mental health is not something to ignore, so if you find that you’re trying to be everything to everyone, you need to take a minute. There are only so many pieces of yourself that you can give away before it all becomes a little too much. Take the time to understand what you’re going through and pay attention to what you need. It’s not easy to get through life, but you don’t have to get through it alone.
