5 Ways to Liven Up Your Look

5 Ways to Liven Up Your Look

Growing a little bored with your look? Then do something about it! In our view, life is too short to be anything less than fully fulfilled with your appearance. Whether you’re looking to project a different energy or you simply want to mix things up, you don’t have to wait for permission to change your appearance. You can just do it!

And there’s no shortage of ways to do just that, either. Let’s take a look at some tried, tested, and all-out fun ways that you can mix up your style, in many cases without breaking the bank.

Hit Different Stores

Many of us tend to buy clothes from the same old stores, and that can make sense. If you discover a store that has good quality products that you seem to enjoy, then it’s not all that surprising that you keep going back for more.

But those stores will soon represent the old you. The new you is going to be shopping at new stores, ones that have more interesting collections. If you’re looking to pick up some new clothes, search in your local area (or not-so-local area!) for boutique stores, where you’ll often find clothes from independent producers that are more affordable than you might think.

Wear Your Existing Clothes In New Ways

Want to liven up your look, but too cash-strapped to hit the shops? Then look at wearing your existing clothes in new ways. Many of us have go-to outfits in which we wear the same shoes/bottoms/top combinations, but what if there were other possibilities on the table? Look at mixing and matching your well-established outfits to create new looks. If that doesn’t work, then you can always look at wearing your clothes in slightly different ways — for example, tucking or half-tucking a t-shirt rather than letting it hang loose can make a subtle but noticeable difference.

Add Personal Style

Your outfits make the biggest contribution to your look, but they’re not the only things that have an impact. Your accessories and jewelry can, too. Indeed, there’s arguably no method for switching up your look that’s more effective than adding a couple of pieces of showstopping jewelry. Adding a necklace, piercing jewelry, or a ring to your outfits — or even a combination of all three — is an affordable and fun way to spice up your aesthetic. It’s an approach that can breathe new life into a tired outfit, so look at building your jewelry collection to ensure you can always add some personal style to even the plainest of outfits.

Other accessories, such as sunglasses, hats, and scarves can also liven up your look, albeit to a lesser extent than jewelry. While these accessories primarily service a practical function, it’s always best to buy them with your overall look in mind.

Play Around With Your Hair

Your hairstyle says a lot about you, so make sure it’s proclaiming the kind of message you want to send! If you’re looking to mix things up, then we’d recommend finding a new, highly-rated hair salon in your local area and giving them a license to work their magic. This approach is normally the best because, even though you might love where you currently get your hair done, they’ll be unlikely to really give you a new look. Plus, if you don’t like what the new salon comes up with, you can always go back to the original one.

One tip: look at bumping up the budget if you’re normally slightly frugal when it comes to your hair. Paying a little extra — say, 20% more than normal — really can make a big difference to the quality of the outcome.

Focus On Your Eyes

The eyes are an underrated component of a person’s appearance. They say so much. There are a couple of ways to change the appearance of your eyes, and it mostly depends on the starting point. If your eyes are looking a little tired, then focus on rejuvenating them through rest. Your eyes will look better and brighter, and you’ll likely also change how you see the world — and a happy soul really does look better. Another option is to find a new eye makeup tutorial. There is an endless amount on YouTube, so take a look and find one that speaks to you. It can take a little bit of time, but once you’ve found it, it’ll become a foundational part of your look until, well, the next time you decide to mix up your look.
