How To Start a Side Hustle: 3 Tips For Recent Graduates

Thinking of ways to make money while you finish college and look for a job is intimidating. You’ve just graduated, probably have student loan payments soon, and are unsure how you can meet ends.

Let’s face it: having a part-time job or any other source of secondary income is an excellent idea after graduation. Stick with this article to learn how to start earning today.

Learn The Skills You Need

Chances are, you would find it hard pursuing a side hustle like selling a gummy machine every week if you don’t understand what skills it takes to maximize your profit.

If you’ve ever considered starting a side hustle, here are 3 skills you can start learning now:

Blogging

If you want to get into the blogging world, you’ll first need to pick a niche. Once you’ve done that, you’ll need to start writing — and writing a lot. This will help you get better at blogging, but it can also help you earn some extra cash if you monetize your blog with ads and affiliate links.

Selling your stuff

If you’ve got items lying around that you don’t use, you can sell them on websites like eBay or Craigslist. You can even set up your own store on eBay, Etsy, or another site to sell your stuff.

You can also try selling stuff on Facebook or Instagram.

Freelancing

If you’ve got skills in a specific field, you can start to pick up freelance jobs through sites like Upwork. Just make sure you research the field you want to get into so you have the right skills.

There’s also a chance you could find full-time jobs on these sites — which means you could earn some extra cash while you’re still looking for a full-time job.

Earn Some Confidence

There’s nothing like getting paid for something you’re passionate about to build some serious confidence. And the more passionate you are about the side hustle, the more likely you are to succeed: You’ll have a clearer idea of how to make money, you’ll be more motivated to make it work, and you’ll be less likely to give up.

You might even be able to use the skills you learn from your side hustle in your full-time job — or to start another business venture.

Making Money Through A Side Hustle

It’s important to note that you won’t be making a ton of money right away. But you should be trying to make as much as possible, even if it’s just a few dollars per month: every bit of money you earn now can help you build your future.

Depending on your side hustle, you might have to set aside time to do it every day or just once a week. You’ll have to decide what works best for you — but remember, it’s a side hustle: it doesn’t have to be your full-time job.

Bottom line

Having a side hustle is a great way to make money after graduation. It can be anything from selling your clothes to online blogging.

The most important thing is to start looking for ways to make money and use the skills you’ve learned to earn as much as you can.
