Over the last year, remote learning has become an important part of the education system. Not everyone is a fan of remote learning, but it has supported us throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Teachers are under a lot of pressure to deliver an enjoyable remote learning experience for students. Engagement can be an issue, and so teachers have needed to get creative. To improve the remote learning experience, teachers can focus on various areas. To learn more, check out these four simple tips.

1 . Support Students With Access

First things first, teachers need to ensure that every student can properly access a remote learning platform. Figure out who needs extra equipment, and which parents need support. Provide training to help parents and students use any new platforms. Remember that some parents and students may not be comfortable with the new technology right away. Be patient, and offer ongoing access support. Don’t just assume that all your students have the means and capability for distance learning. Work with your students to ensure they feel comfortable with the new processes.

2. Focus On Great Communication

It’s important to focus on great communication, to ensure improve the remote learning experience. Try to simplify the communication, (as opposed to sending lots of emails)! You’ll want parents to have all the info they need, without overwhelming them. It’s a good idea to use just one platform, and ensure that everyone can access it easily. Make sure that you gather feedback from both your students and their parents. You can figure out what’s working, what isn’t, and make improvements. You might be teaching a large class size, but you can also offer extra support in small groups. As you’ll be aware, some children will learn better with smaller group sizes.

3. Focus On Well Being

Home learning can be difficult for children, and so it’s important to focus on well-being. Provide parents with guidelines to support their children, in a remote setting. Encourage regular breaks from the screen, and tell your students to get outside and play. Ensure that children are getting enough downtime, and support anyone who is struggling. It’s important to ensure that students do not become overtired or overworked. It’s vital to improve student well being as much as possible.

4. Classroom Management Software

To support the remote learning experience, it’s useful to use classroom management software. One great option is LanSchool school software. Using the tool you can improve the home learning experience for all students. The software can help you to maximize your teaching time, improve collaboration, and guide the learning experience. There are plenty of features to take advantage of including tracking and protection, web limiting features, and thumbnail monitoring. For more info take a look at the LanSchool website.

As the world of tech swiftly moves forward there are so many more options for remote learning. You might test out a few different tech platforms, to see which one works best for you. With feedback from your students, you’ll be able to improve the collaborative experience. Provide parents with a few remote learning tips, to support them as much as you can.
