Build Your Website for Today’s Audience

Solidify Your Web Presence: Making Your Website Work

It is a must for any business to develop a solid product or service line that presents unique benefits to customers. Your brand's offerings are its foundation, after all.

However, good products alone can only take your business so far. Especially in today's digital age, you need a solid online presence to make sure people are not only aware of, but also trust in the reliability of your products.

Alongside social media pages, your business needs a website that caters to the needs of potential customers. This means having the right features that will not only simplify the navigating experience for them but also invite them to stay on the website and purchase your products.

Pay Attention to the Visual Aspects

Before looking at your content, you must first mind the design elements. This is what initially captures your audience's attention.

1. Use eye-catching images.

Images are important to note because the danger in using them for websites is that they end up becoming more distracting than helpful for your content. The pictures you use should complement the content you have on the website, further enriching the experience for visitors.

Pictures are particularly important when showcasing your brand's products and services. You must capture your offerings in their best and truest forms to ease the buying process.

For instance, businesses that sell items such as makeup and jewelry must provide corresponding product images that show buyers the specific features. These include color, ingredients/materials, and appearance when worn by persons with different skin tones. Still, jewelry photo editing or retouching services are essential to make sure the pictures are clean and eye-catching.

Whatever photos you place on your website, just mind their relevance to your content and their ability to enhance the buying experience.

2. Simplify the navigation.

You don't make a potential customer visit your website only to give them a hard time understanding what they are supposed to see. When it comes to the navigation aspect of your website, simple is best.

In fact, it should be so simple that when people visit your website, their attention is not immediately drawn to the layout itself. They should be drawn to what you have to say and show.

Ideally, just have a maximum of 7 top-level pages for your website that people can easily click to find more information. These pages are usually your About Us, Shop, Contact, Subscribe, and other tabs relevant to your business.

Don't overload your page with flashy animations and videos. A few could highlight specific parts well, but doing too many could cause a sensory overload that will turn away customers.

3. Make the design consistent.

Another thing you want in your website is continuity. Don't confuse your audience by having a few different themes for every page.

Decide on a theme and stick with it for every section. A few variations can make things stand out more, but users should feel like every page is linked with the next one they visit through common elements.

Include Substantial Content

Along with eye-catching visuals should be content that makes them stay on your page. These should tell them valuable information about your field, your products and services, and your company.

1. Have informative posts.

If your business does not already have a blog, then it is about time to start one. A blog helps your website with SEO efforts, and it also showcases your expertise in your field.

Put yourself in the shoes of customers and write about topics that help grow their knowledge. The assurance that a credible team is behind a certain set of products turns potential buyers into loyal customers.

2. Include customer testimonials.

You need to build trust in potential customers that not only are your products of high quality but also that they are loved by customers. Reviews from actual customers and the products or services they used give you credibility. When you can, use real names and pictures of customers to make your reviews more trustworthy.

3. Introduce your team.

Finally, let people know who the brains behind your company are. From your executive team to your product developers and designers, name the qualifications and contributions of the team to reinforce your expertise, but also bring your brand closer to people. Include these in your About Us section along with your contact details and geographic information.

Your website is a window into what your brand is, so it is important to put effort into it. Remember, however, that any website is a work in progress. Make updates as your business grows and you can stay ahead in today's competitive digital space.
