How to Take Your Home Security to Another Level

In times of increased crime, you might want to take your home security to another level when you have a family and valuables to protect. Here are some extra measures you can take.

Monitor Your Cameras from Multiple Rooms

CCTV cameras are readily available and easily installed. You can do it yourself if you have some technical skills. Or you can hire a professional security service to do it for you. Should you be particularly worried about theft or intrusion, it might be wise to use a 12g-SDI distribution amplifier so you can monitor cameras from various rooms. For example, you could have a setup that lets you see your garage from the living room or when you are working at the home office.

Use Private Security Apps

You can use a number of apps to make your home safer. Most are connected to systems outside of the home, like the Ring Video Doorbell. But professional home services like ADT also offer apps that can connect to their systems and keep your home safe. The best thing about these apps is that you can use them from afar with either a public or private connection. So, even when you're not at home, you can keep an eye on or find out about security problems.

Take Home Security to Another Level with Drones

Autonomous drones are very popular right now. You can set them up to watch over your house and send you pictures even when you're not there. As part of a smart home system, a drone with a camera patrols your property from above, giving you a complete view of your safety. There are, of course, laws and rules about how drones can be used. For instance, you cannot intrude into a neighbor's property for obvious privacy and legal reasons.

Create Smart Device Routines

Over 350 million smart homes are expected to be built by 2023 as the number of smart homes grows. Smart AI assistants like Alexa can be used with devices like the Amazon Echo Show or even your phone. For more advanced features, you can also use the software on a device that works with it. For example, it's easy to set up a routine with Alexa that turns on the radio and lights at certain times, making it look like you're home even when you're not.

Secure Your Wireless Internet Connection

Home security in the 21st century is, of course, about more than just the physical. Cybercrime happens all the time these days. And if you don't have enough protection, ransomware, identity theft, and credit card fraud can happen to you because your computer has all the information someone needs. Use a good security suite like Malwarebytes at all times. But add password managers and VPN software to your PC to make it safer and more secure overall.

Summary

It isn't too challenging to take your home security to another level. Some common examples include multiplexing cameras, using automated drones, and securing your digital data.
